Curious about bike share?
Posted on Feb 2nd, 2018 Comments (0)
Bike sharing in Aurora is in full swing after the city of Aurora launched its Bike Share Permit Program in October to increase mobility options for its residents. Those green, orange and yellow bikes scattered around town are owned by private bike-share operators LimeBike, Spin and ofo. And they are available for you, the public, to use via an application on your smart phone.

Many bike systems worldwide operate as a docked system where bikes must be checked out from and returned to a fixed docking station. But the dockless bike sharing system is new, and allows for bikes to be picked up and parked anywhere, as long as they are parked legally and are accessible to the public. Aurora was the first city in Colorado to host dockless bike sharing.

Drought Conditions in CO

Dear Homeowners:
Below is a statement regarding drought conditions in Colorado and the need for winter watering!
Based on the statistic that it takes 10-inches of snow to create 1-inch of water, Colorado is getting close to "drought" conditions through-out. Several areas are already considered to be in a state of "Severe Drought" according to the US Department of Agriculture. In this same report, it states that the Denver metro area is "Abnormally Dry". Although we are only half way through the snow season, it is likely that even with snow fall during the remainder of the season, we are not likely to return to normal snow pack levels.
Drought can have a tremendous negative impact on our community landscapes. With trees specifically, adverse developments can be unseen on the surface. The lack of water results in the higher consumption of water reserves stored in smaller roots. Dried up roots lead to an unstable tree foundation, increasing the possibility of a tree falling in high winds or extreme weather conditions (heavy snow storms).  Drought-stressed trees are more susceptible to insects, diseases, uprooting, and increased time required to heal from injury.
